Or what I should say… Is a decidley lack of volcano.
So our next stop was San Juan Del Sur… Which we were very excited about because someone in our group had arranged a trip to a volcano!
It wasn’t just any volcano. This was a fully functioning active volcano. Steaming from the top. You could even walk across the top on a walkway… Which to be honest I was a bit dubious about but when you have several people calling you a woosey then you end up deciding it’s a great idea.
Rushed out of clinic and we all jumped on the tender boat to shoreside. Apparently it was a 45 minute drive to the base of the volcano and then you could transfer into another truck and make your way to the top to get the full view of the thing / jump in / run for your life.
Now we only get a certain amount of time off the ship. Every minute counts. We had approx. 4 hours in total which should have been plenty of time really.
The problem was… Someone had made a little boo boo with the estimation of the time it takes to get to this volcano. I mean 45 minutes would be fine… But the journey kept going… 1 hour… 1 hour 15mins… 1 hour 30min…
1 hour 45min… Arrived!!!!
Well. That’s the end of this journey. We had just enough time to get a few photos at the base of the volcano…
Do not ask me what the girls are trying to do… I mean even the dogs looking a bit suspicious of them…
However, as you may have noticed, there don’t appear to be any photos of a volcano. That’s because the spot we were in didn’t give us any kind of view of the volcano…
So! Back in the taxi and back to the ship.
But you know what. It was still a pretty epic journey racing through Nicaragua in the back of this bus when you have a bunch of crazy mates to hang out with…
Makes it all worthwhile…!!
