Lemons

It’s difficult to beat a day at the beach. It could be Skegness, Brighton or even Lemon beach in Noumea. As long as you have a stretch of sand and a bit of sea to have a paddle, you’re pretty much sorted. I’d been to Lemon beach last year but the guys I’m hanging out with have never set foot there, so over the last couple of weeks I’d managed to paint a picture of some kind of Las Vegas style entertainment hub of Noumea and they were very excited at the prospect of going.

Unfortunately they day we arrived was a Sunday. Oh dear. The place isn’t really a hive of activity at the best of times but on Sundays there is only one shop open… which along other things sold packs of contact lenses, for I assume people with large eyes.

Luckily we were saved by the amount of eateries that were available though. Some of them pretty darn colourful too… some of them I guess just didn’t know where to store the meat…

We eventually settled on a nice little place that sold some tasty burgers. That’s the environmental officer on the left, the doctor on the right, and the nurse sneaking up behind them in the middle…

Anyway. Let’s be honest… we didn’t go all the way to Lemon beach to sit in a pub all day. We finished off here pretty sharpish and then all went on a paddle along the beach… Now the beach was a mixture of sand and very sharp stones. Rather than showing you pictures of our pained faces while walking, I’ll show you our view instead… which more than makes up for the holes in our feet.
